Why ‘Hyderabad Cricket Association’ Unable To Host IPL Final Match In Uppal Stadium?

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) will be keeping their fingers crossed because of the unexpected turn of events. Recent winds anf gale on could possibly blow away the hopes of Hyderabad hosting the IPL final scheduled on May 12.

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced on Monday that the final will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Uppal, but a few hours later the city which experienced rain and gale-like winds ripped apart some portion of the canopy at the South Stand of the Stadium.

HCA is not sure because of this unexpected turn of events and damage to the stadium. The BCCI officials have to assess the extent of damage and certify it fit for the May 12 grand finale after the Monday winds.

Although HCA CEO C Panduranga Murthy expressed confidence that the scheduled final will take place at Uppal Stadium, but there are a few peculiar technical problems that need to be addressed urgently before giving the green signal. Otherwise, it could cause a huge embarrassment to both BCCI and HCA while conducting a prestigious final like IPL.

With no canopy cover now to a large area at the South Stand, it will be the issue of floodlights and their shadow that will fall on the ground. It could cause problems to the players.

It would not be possible to install a new canopy in such a short notice. Or the other solution is to remove the canopy in total from South Stand. #KhabarLive
